How Did National Beer Day Come To Be?
It’s little wonder that we have a whole holiday celebrating beer. After all, beer is the most widely consumed drink in the world. Beer is ingrained deeply into the world’s history. In fact, scientists think beer making dates as far back as 7000 BC.
National Beer Day, though, celebrates the day the Cullen-Harrison act was signed into law. This law, signed in 1933, reversed the prohibition on selling beer in the U.S. It wasn’t until 2009, however, that a Virginian man by the name of Justin Smith decided to commemorate the occasion by unofficially marking April 7th as National Beer Day. Since then, the holiday has spread to beer lovers across the country. Come celebrate with The Hoppy Brewer by having a beer or two!
